Terrace & Rooftop Retreats
I transform empty Chennai terraces and rooftops into functional living spaces. Whether you want a private family lounge, a meditation corner, or a safe play area for your kids, I help you create an outdoor room that feels like home.
This client already had a pergola structure, so I renovated it with a new ceiling and added these slatted screens for privacy. It created a wonderful outdoor room for the family to enjoy nature together.
Why look for a venue when you can have a permanent party place at home? This rooftop was designed to be the perfect spot for kids' parties and small family gatherings, complete with seating and open space.
A simple built-in bench made of concrete and wood composite provides durable and stylish seating on this terrace. Paired with artificial turf and stone pavers, it creates a clean, modern look for this party space.
This client wanted to add a nice view to their home gym. I created this relaxing lounge area right outside, so they can breathe in some fresh air and enjoy the greenery after a workout. It’s all about prioritizing your health and well-being.
A closer look at the dining area in this terrace garden. The reflection on the glass tabletop beautifully mirrors the green privacy screen and the sky, making the space feel open and connected to the outdoors.
The beauty is in the details. This intricate jaali or breeze block wall adds a decorative touch and provides ventilation while maintaining privacy. It’s a simple element that adds so much character to the space.
This is a close-up of a vertical garden I created on a south-facing fence. I used a mix of flowering plants and leafy greens to create a lush, living wall that also adds a beautiful texture to the space.
I believe in making every part of a home beautiful, especially areas with natural light. For this project, I added a hanging basket of artificial vines and a green wall to transform a simple window area into a lovely focal point.
This is a design concept for a 200 sq. ft. terrace. My goal was to make it simple yet elegant, with a unique laser-cut pergola roof that creates beautiful shadows, comfortable seating, and a mix of wood decking and artificial grass.
Another view of the same terrace concept, showing a peaceful meditation corner. I added a Buddha statue under a floral arch, creating a serene spot to unwind. Every project I design is unique to the client's needs.
About Terrace & Rooftop Retreats
If you have an existing structure like a pergola or a balcony fence that feels incomplete, I don't believe in tearing it down. I focus on retrofitting and enhancing what is already there—adding slatted privacy screens, weather-proof ceilings, or vertical green walls to turn neglected corners into fully functional outdoor rooms where you can actually relax.
Many people inherit a terrace or a large balcony when they buy a home in Chennai, but it often stays empty because the sun is too harsh or privacy is a concern. My approach is simple: we look at your current footprint and see how to make it usable all year round.
Designing for the Chennai Climate
For rooftops, the biggest challenge is the sun. I design custom pergolas using wood composite or bamboo, topped with polycarbonate sheets. This gives you that dappled shade you crave without blocking the breeze. To get that sense of seclusion from neighbors, I frequently install slatted wooden screens or jaali-style breeze blocks. These allow for airflow while making the space feel like a private sanctuary.
Functional Details That Last
I am not just about putting down grass and walking away. I look at flooring—combining artificial turf with stone pavers to create clean paths—and built-in seating that survives the monsoon. If you have a south-facing fence, we can transform it with a vertical garden. It acts as natural insulation for your wall and gives you a lush green view instead of a blank concrete slab.
Whether you need a dedicated yoga corner with a Buddha statue or a durable play area for your kids, every element we choose is meant to be used, not just admired. It is about reclaiming your space so you have a place for your morning coffee or a weekend sunset with the family.
